Just ran across this news story. Ask Jeeves bought a company called Tukaroo that is developing local search software, just like Lookout, X1 and a number of other ones. Like Ive said before, the amount of activity in this area is really amazing. Its a race among them and with Microsoft to see who gets the best public/desktop search combination out there.
